Open Age phone groups attract national attention

Open Age have been running weekly debates and creative writing classes over the phone for older people in Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea. The Guardian newspaper has published an article on a ground-breaking scheme which is helping people who find it difficult to get out and about, and who are otherwise socially isolated, to stay in touch with the outside world and make new friends.

Loneliness increasingly common for older people

The Silver Line Helpline For Older People is reporting that it took nearly 300,000 calls in it's first year, and most were about feeling lonely or isolated.
