Patient and hospital transport

If you have problems with mobility, and are unable to get independently to a hospital appointment using other transport options, then you may be eligible for support.

If you have a hospital outpatient appointment you no longer have to contact your GP or doctor for this service. You can ring the appropriate hospital transport centre direct; they will assess your eligibility over the phone and may then book you into non-emergency patient transport if you qualify.

Bookings are made only where there is a clear medical need, in line with national policy. Financial disadvantage alone will not entitle you to free patient transport.
