Here are some things she'd particularly like to bring to your attention:

  • The specialist dementia Day Centre in 42 Westbourne Park Road is looking for any 1945 - 1965 objects that could be used for reminiscence activities, manual handling, and sensory sessions. These could be old appliances, postcards, objects of everyday use, packaging from branded products or anything that could bring back memories from those years.

  • Carers Network runs series of virtual events during Dying Matters Week (10-14 May)

  • Terezie will be running more training sessions on living with dementia, services in Westminster, communication and person-centred approaches during Dementia Action Week and further:
    • Dementia Awareness & Living with Dementia in Westminster (Part 1.) 
      Online session on Microsoft Teams
      Date: Wednesday 19th May 2021
      Time: 10am-12.30pm


      This session covers basic facts about dementia including risk factors, symptoms, types of dementia, diagnostic process and treatment.

      This course will also cover an overview of dementia services in Westminster and support available locally. This session is suitable for people living with dementia, carers, professionals, volunteers and anyone who would like to find out more about dementia, and the specifics of living with dementia in Westminster.

    • Communicating with People with Dementia and Person Centred Approaches (Part 2.) 
      Online session on Microsoft Teams
      Date: Monday 24 May 2021
      Time: 10am- 12.30pm


      Note that basic knowledge about dementia (as covered in Dementia Awareness) is prerequisite for attending this session. This session will help you understand the lived experience of dementia, and help you to communicate better with someone living with dementia. You will learn what person-centred approaches are, and how they can be used to improve the wellbeing of the person you care for or support. This session is suitable for carers, volunteers and professionals, or anyone who would like to learn more about how to communicate with someone living with dementia.
