Epilepsy Action
Epilepsy Action is a epilepsy organisation that exists to improve the lives of everyone affected by the condition.
They provide advice and information, online, in print and directly through the Epilepsy Helpline (0808 800 5050 / 0113 210 8800). They also offer e-learning – with tips for living with epilepsy, as well as videos and interactive quizzes. Their UK wide network of groups is growing all the time and gives people a great chance to share experiences and support each other. Our online forum has members around the world, all supporting each other, alongside our Facebook page.
Their app for smartphones, tablets and PCs is a great practical tool, including a seizure diary and medicine reminder. People share their experiences of epilepsy on Snapshot– you could add yours too!
They publish the paper and online epilepsy magazine Epilepsy Today for our members and on Kindle, featuring the latest news and a broad range of articles. They also publish Europe’s only epilepsy magazine for health professionals, Epilepsy Professional.
Their campaigns to improve epilepsy healthcare and services, locally, UK-wide and internationally. The Sapphire Nurse scheme, funds epilepsy specialist nurses. Also find out more about the non-laboratory research into epilepsy which they fund.
As a charity they have to fund all of their work, so they run a variety of events and opportunities to meet people, have fun, challenge yourself and raise money. They also work with individual businesses. They could not do our work without wonderful members and volunteers and offer a large variety of volunteering opportunities.
